Limey – 5 stars
What a quirky travel memoir! Not having read any of Ms Morris’s previous works, I was unsure what to expect. I loved her use of flowing language and the descriptions of the many places rented from The Landmark Trust made me want to go out and begin my own adventures. Not one to resist a challenge, I particularly enjoyed her acceptance of a dance part in a TV advert, in spite of what she described as modest dancing skills. I was hooked by the whole process of rehearsals at dead of night while working during the day. To me, the book epitomised the British spirit of ‘have a go’ and ‘carry on, regardless’, while entertaining what, I’m sure, will be her many readers. A book to enjoy when the dark nights draw in and you’re stuck inside, dreaming of getting away.
