Vic CWP – 5 stars
I received an advance copy of Not Quite Lost and am so glad I did. Most travel memoirs are exclusively about far-flung places and cultures that seem like a journey to another planet. While I enjoy those, what I loved about this particular memoir was the sense of intimacy and locality that Morris nurtures with each of her chapters. While Morris (with her husband), rarely travels to a place more than a few hours drive from her home in London, she illustrates – and with tremendous heart and skill – the fresh and utterly foreign experiences we can find within our own borders.
Absulutely charming. Quiet and magnetic. The comparisons to Bill Bryson are spot on.
