Davida Chazan – 5 stars
OMG, this is such a lovely book. Now, I don’t usually read non-fiction (yes, I know, I just read and reviewed a biography), but I’ve already read another non-fiction book by Morris, as well as a fiction book by her, so I knew that I loved her writing. When I heard she was releasing a new one, I was thrilled that she offered me an ARC. I cannot tell you how much fun this book is, and funny. I mean, really laugh out loud, until you brought to tears funny! My full review is here.
Excerpt:
‘I was so captivated and it was such fun, I couldn’t stop reading, and finished it in only four days (remember, I have dyslexia and I read slower than most people)…
‘Morris has such a charming writing style, that smiles are infectious when you read her stories. That they’re totally true, and personal, will make you feel like you’ve met her as well.
‘Most importantly, I couldn’t stop laughing while reading this book. I’m not talking about little giggles, or small guffaws, I’m talking about full throttle roaring, even resulting in tears once or twice, especially when a situation came up with which I’ve also had a similar experience! Anyone who has ever wanted to sell their home and buy somewhere else knows all the crazy loops you have to jump through, and some of them can be quite comical – at least they do in hindsight, and the way Morris tells of her hurdles, they really are hysterically funny.
‘I also adored how Morris discussed the various quirks and annoyances of all the buyers, sellers, and estate agents, not to mention solicitors and a slew of other professionals who end up getting entangled in every home sale and purchase. Her delicious sense of humour, tinged with sharp sarcasm, sprinkled with clever metaphors, and sweetened with rapier wit was simply priceless.’
